The difference between acrylic glass and Plexiglas lies in the quality: Plexiglas is a high-quality, protected brand of acrylic glass that is made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). It impresses with its durability , UV protection and resistance to environmental influences , while acrylic glass can have different qualities.

Plexiglass is not a subtype of acrylic glass, but is therefore far from identical in quality . The starting point for acrylic glass is PMMA. Dr. It was Otto Röhm from Germany around 1928 who brought it to series production. He then had the high-quality plastic panels protected under the brand name Plexiglas.
